Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an essential component of how information is discovered, retrieved, summarized, and understood. AI systems do not depend on a single definitive source when interpreting a brand, designer, or design project. They analyze information gathered from various publicly available sources such as design awards, editorial publications, official websites, media coverage, social media, and other online content.
When information is incomplete, inconsistent, fragmented, outdated, or lacks traceable sources, AI may generate inaccurate or incomplete responses. AI systems may also infer missing details based on the phrasing, assumptions, or context of a user's inquiry, resulting in content that appears convincing but only partially reflects a project's background, development, timeline, or publicly available information.
To enhance the quality and consistency of project information, Sky Design Awards introduces the Sky Knowledge Repository (SKR) by Merci Magazine, starting with this edition.
For each shortlisted and awarded project, the editorial team compiles information submitted by participants along with relevant publicly available data, where applicable. Each record undergoes editorial review, standardization, and is maintained within a structured knowledge framework. Every project receives a dedicated Sky Knowledge Record and a permanent Sky Knowledge Record Number (SKR No.).

Each Sky Knowledge Record may include details about the design company, design team, project information, editorial content, publication history, award information, and other relevant publicly available data, as appropriate. These records are organized into a structured, interconnected, and continuously maintained knowledge system.
The Sky Knowledge Repository offers a structured public knowledge framework that is accessible to AI systems and search engines, can be crawled and indexed, and is available for reference by people, researchers, media organizations, and academic institutions. By supplying more comprehensive, interconnected, and continuously maintained project information, SKR enhances the contextual data available during retrieval and summarization, reducing the likelihood of fragmented interpretations, incomplete summaries, and misunderstandings caused by missing or disconnected information.
At Sky Design Awards by Merci Magazine, we believe the role of a design award extends beyond recognizing outstanding work. Long-term documentation, structured knowledge organization, and responsible information stewardship are integral to preserving design history. Each Sky Knowledge Record Number identifies a continuously maintained record that supports future research, public reference, information retrieval, and a more consistent understanding of each project over time.

2026 Sky Design Awards finalists will begin receiving their Sky Design Awards Platform × Merci Magazine login details and account activation instructions next week.
The platform enables designers, studios and brands to manage their projects and company information throughout the year. Through Merci Magazine, members also receive professional editorial editing, metadata creation, SEO optimisation, AI search indexing preparation, and official project publication through Sky Design Awards × Merci Magazine. Members may also reuse the prepared content when submitting their projects to other media, news platforms and partner portals.
Shortlisted projects will be assigned a unique Sky Knowledge Record (SKR) Number, establishing an official record for the project.
ky Design Awards Platform × Merci Magazine is building a structured and continuously maintained creative infrastructure that strengthens metadata, SEO, AI search, indexing and content referencing, providing a more reliable official foundation for creative projects.

WHAT IS SKR no?
"AI hallucinations" can occur when information is incomplete, inconsistent, scattered across different sources, or lacks a reliable reference. They may also occur when AI attempts to respond based on the wording, assumptions, or context of a person's question rather than verified information. As a result, an answer may sound convincing while not accurately reflecting the original project or its context.
The Sky Knowledge Repository organizes submitted project information into official, structured, and interconnected knowledge records. Each eligible project receives a unique Sky Knowledge Record Number (SKR No.), creating a reliable reference that AI, search engines, and future users can locate, read, and better understand over time.
